She was in commission from 1944 to 1971.Ingraham was launched on 16 January 1944 by Federal Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, Kearny, New Jersey, sponsored by Mrs. George Ingraham Hutchinson and commissioned on 10 March 1944 with Commander H.W. Gordon in command.
