Excerpt from Minutes of the Annual Session of the Synod of New York: Held in the City of Kingston, October 20-22, A. D., 1908

The Rev. Charles E. Craven, of the Presbytery of Long Island and the Rev. Henry T. Scroll, of the Presbytery of Lyons, were elected Temporary Clerks.

The Rev. Charles G. Ellis, chairman of the Committee of Arrangements, after an address of welcome reported the following recommendations, which were adopted:

That the theme of the Session be "The Presbyterian Church as a Spiritual Force," and that the following order be adopted subject to such changes as may need to be made during its progress; that the morning sessions begin at nine o'clock a.m. and close at 12.30 P.M., the afternoon sessions at two o'clock P.M. and close at five; that the evening sessions begin at eight o'clock; that the first half hour each morning be spent in devotional exercises.

The Moderator and Stated Clerk were constituted a committee to convey the greetings and sympathies of the Synod to the retiring Moderator, Rev. Samuel W. Pratt, D. D., who was detained from the meeting by illness.

After prayer, Synod adjourned until Wednesday morning at nine o'clock.

Wednesday, October 21, 9 o'clock, A.M.

The Synod met and spent half an hour in devotional services.

After prayer, by Rev. Harlan G. Mendenhall, D.D., business was resumed.

The roll was called, and delegates not previously enrolled, (marked 2) were reported present.

The Minutes of Tuesday's session were read and approved.

The Moderator announced the appointment of Mr. James Yereance as Vice-Moderator, and also the-Standing Committees.
